The US ambassador to Libya, Richard Norland, has met with the Libyan Prime  Minister, Abdul Hamid Dbeibah, and stressed the importance of working toward a consensus with stakeholders across Libya in support of the Geneva talks between the House of Representatives and High Council of State; facilitated by UN Advisor, Stephanie Williams.

Norland said, according to US embassy in Libya on Twitter, that The US continues to support Libyans who expect elections and are eager to end lengthy transitional periods and multiple governments in favor of a unified, elected government that is accountable to the people.

He added that he had also discussed the importance of managing oil revenues in a way that is transparent and accountable, saying that US companies have much to offer that could help alleviate current electricity cuts.

Dbeibah, according to his media office, said elections are the only way out of the Libyan crisis, rejecting any new transitional periods and reiterating the need for a unified international position toward supporting elections.

They also discussed joint cooperation in energy and electricity fields to use US companies' expertise in this regard, urging Norland to reopen the US embassy in Tripoli as other countries did since the advent of the unity government.
