Turkish Parliament Speaker receives Aqila Saleh in Ankara

The President of the Turkish Grand National Assembly, Mustafa Şentop, received on Tuesday the Speaker of Libyan House of Representatives, Aqila Saleh, in the Turkish capital, Ankara.

Şentop and Saleh chaired a meeting of the delegations of the two countries after their bilateral meeting at the Turkish Parliament headquarters in Ankara, according to Turkish media.

During the meeting, Şentop said that the existing relations between Turkey and Libya extend back to ancient eras, explaining that strengthening relations between the parliaments of the two countries will reflect positively on the rest of the fields and sectors.

The Turkish-Libyan Friendship Group within the Turkish Parliament was established last year; with the aim of developing relations with Libya, Şentop emphasized.

He also stressed that preserving the territorial integrity of Libya is of great importance to Turkey.

For his part, Saleh pointed out that there are historical ties between the Turkish and Libyan peoples, and that it is necessary to leave all channels of dialogue open in order to bring stability and peace to Libya, as he put it. He stressed the importance of Turkey's support for efforts to bring peace and stability to Libya.

Aqila Saleh arrived in the Turkish capital, Ankara, on Monday, on an official visit, accompanied by a member of the Presidential Council, Abdullah Al-Lafi.
