Libya, Algeria, Tunisia agree on shared groundwater management
Libya, Algeria, and Tunisia have signed an agreement for consultation on managing shared groundwater in the North African desert.
The agreement, inked in the Algerian capital on Wednesday, marks the first outcome of the Maghreb tripartite summit among the three countries.
At the summit, the parties agreed to establish collaborative mechanisms for utilizing shared groundwater in the North African desert and to advance the implementation of a synchronized electrical interconnection project linking the power grids of the three countries.
Libya greenlights easier investment path for China
Minister of Economy and Trade Mohammed Al-Hawij has instructed the relevant departments to streamline procedures and accelerate investment projects for Chinese companies seeking to enter the Libyan market.
Al-Hawij made these directives during a meeting with Leo Jian, the Charge d'Affaires of China to Libya, aimed at discussing economic and trade relations between the two countries.
North Africa Classic Car Show
The first show for classic car owners in North Africa was held in Tripoli by Tripoli Classic Car Club, in the presence of the mayor of the central municipality of Tripoli, the ambassadors of Algeria and Mexico in Libya, and classic cars fans.
More than 50 cars and motorcycles from Libya, Tunisia and Algeria participated in the show.
Gang leader sentenced to prison for fuel smuggling charges
The Criminal Court has convicted the leader of a criminal gang for deliberately trafficking illegal fuel off the coast of Zuwara city.
The court sentenced the defendant to six years and six months in prison and ordered him to repay around 113,549,821 Libyan dinars.
Additionally, he was deprived of his civil rights for the duration of the sentence and two years after its completion.
The Public Prosecutor's Office clarified Tuesday that investigations revealed the gang's deliberate smuggling of 165,669 litres of diesel fuel.
